Hi!

I am soooo loving my Xubuntu. What a delight it has been so far! I've
even written a couple of rants about Xubuntu in my blog
(http://robinzrants.wordpress.com).

I've downloaded a tar.gz from the web (because this particular
application is not available in our repos yet), but I don't know how to
install it. Is there a simple little tutorial for installing software
from a tar.gz in Xubuntu?

Thanks,
Robin
There might very well be alternate, better ways of obtaining an installer for Xubuntu as you normally don't want to install from source (or at least if you don't really know how to do it). Instructions are usually in a file named INSTALL in the .tar.gz (which you can extract by double-clicking on it to obtain the source). But again, first tell us which application it is because you most likely don't want to do this.
