Hello,

Just wanted to see if anyone knows if progress has been made on
getting an XFCE4 menu editor up and running? I had not seen anything
when last I checked but wasn't sure if someone here might have heard.

Not sure about everyone else but with a house full of Linux user's the
switch from Kubuntu to Xubuntu has met some unhappy customer's and a
major one is that there is no menu editor.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,

I believe the development version of garcon (the menu library used by Xfce) supports menu merging, a feature that was needed to be able to use the Alacarte menu editor. This should be used in the next version of Xfce, but I suspect that if Garcon is released separately that someone might patch Xfce 4.6 to use it. It will take a while before that happens though.

The next version of Xfce (4.8) is planned for April 2010, which you might be able to use in the next version of Xubuntu (10.04).

Cheers,
--
Vincent
