I'll be interested to hear suggestions to your question. I have a HP laptop and have been unsuccessful getting Broadcom wireless working. Similar scenario you described. It worked previously with XP. Have been using Xubuntu 9.04 and decided to run an Ethernet cable under the house rather than spend time troubleshooting the wireless problem.

Originally Vista Home was installed on the Notebook. But it was too slow. So I installed XP pro, wich is faster, but still too slow. That is why I want Xubuntu.

Best Regards,
Vincent
