Oh well. Do you imagine that, by emailing xubuntu-devel, I would just being given an account so I could upload my deb files? You're over-optimistic.

Oops, sorry, I meant to say this the first time but apparently I forgot: can you create a package and ask a dev (e.g. by emailing the -devel list) to sponsor the upload?

Well, building xfce4-xkb-plugin took no time on my Mint XFCE installation (now broken, but not because of the plugin).

Oh, don't start again! This is the Xfce mantra: "Goodies are not ours, we don't know who's writing them, and we failed to notice they're on our server!"

Xfce without Goodies WOULD BE UNUSABLE (sorry for shouting, but I wanted to emphasize a truth).

Might be, but that doesn't mean that it should just make them all part of the main project. They are specifically not part of the project so a full-features DE can be provided without everything needing to conform to the quality demands of Xfce.

FYI, Mandriva packages each and every Goodie and puts it on the unofficial XFCE spin One CD.

Maybe I should post on the xubuntu-devel list, but asking them to be proud of Xubuntu and to emphasize on usability by accepting to care about some Goodies might open a war, and I am tired of flame wars: I simply cannot state a simple truth or ask for a simple thing, anywhere, without being accused of this or that.

I think much of the flamewars have to do with your tone (though I haven't really experienced that here, but by reading your site... I don't consider this a flamewar, too).

And sure, Xubuntu tries to emphasize on usability, but usability goes beyond just those things that you point out and there simply is limited manpower.
I fell I'll regret for having joined this list too. Or maybe not this list, but on xubuntu-devel they would simply kill me :-(

I agree to quit discussion about this on this list, it's probably not of much help anymore.

That said, I don't think you'd be killed (though I know you might face furious reactions on the Xfce lists, the xubuntu-devel list is much better in this regard). I'd just hope you'd realize that asking for it isn't magically going to create more time for the developers to add this. Of course, any contribution would very likely be warmly received. I repeat: if you'd create a deb package, you can ask for sponsorship on the -devel list and if you don't get enough response you can always kick a few people (I'm 'vinnl') on IRC (#xubuntu-devel on Freenode).
