If you just want to try Xfce, it might be an idea to just install that and choose that from the session chooser; however, you will then only be able to use the applications that were already installed in an Xfce environment.<br>

</blockquote><div><br>Well, the "server" install is just that. The alternate install results in the same installation as you'd get when you install using the Desktop CD, it's just the installation process that differs (i.e. using a text-based interface instead of a graphical one).<br>
