network unreliabilility. I can see that the upgrading with internet
connection is inevitable; I think I can deal with that as long as the

machine has had any applications installed since the original installation
because you will end up with unmet dependencies which will either require a

far as I know, you can only do a dist-upgrade from the alternate install
disk. If you are using the alternate install disk, you may still be prompted
to download files, because the disk only has updates for the programs that
come with the regular install, not for the programs that you installed by
