Many thanks Ralf for your prompt reply.
I will have to go through this in detail.
All i can remember is what i wrote in the post which i assume is
incorrect. For several years i used the xubuntu online update and so
did not do an iso install. Couple of years ago i stopped using xubuntu
because i thought my PC was 32 bit - so used another distro that was
32 bit. It was only a couple of months ago that i realised it was 64
bit. So i was pleased to return to xubuntu which i have been using
since 2008. Pleased to say that the install was easy and trouble free
- i have tried several distros and must say that the ubuntu install is
the best i have used. Why xubuntu is not more popular i don't know?
