[xubuntu-users] 18.04 destroying my M.2 SSD

It might be best if it wasn't a Debian-derived distro, but other than
that, you can probably choose just about anything. You might try, for
example, a base installation of Arch. Then there would be fewer packages
to consider.

On the other hand, going with something that's similar to Xubuntu might
be useful for being able to consider a smaller set of differences if it
turns out that this other distro doesn't exhibit the problem. You might
try one of the other Ubuntu flavors, or Debian, for example.
