If I can do it (everything in household is now either XUbuntu
(3machines, Intel clone+MacBookPro+WWW Server) or Android (2 phones and
a Tablet)), you can.
I had 25 years of Win NT/XP myopia clocked up, and cleared the decks
when I retired by going all Linux. Very invigorating. A proper full
featured colour printer driver (that I can use) is the only big thing
that has eluded me over 5 years. I use a mixture of the simpler terminal
tricks, but GUI most of the time is fine. I used cmdline in NT/XP a bit
too, so not much different.
Don't give up, you will get there!
