[xubuntu-users] Swap not active

I tried Puny Geek's method (ref: below), creating the missing resume file
after mkswap. While the process seemed go to a successful completion, /swap
was gone after reboot. Not to mention, the partition with /swap on it could no
longer be "activated." I had to delete and recreate the /swap partition. At
this point, as discussed previously, I'm ready to opt-out of an encrypted
/swap but how do I get rid of the traces of encrypted swap and the associated
error message at boot?
(Oh, I know: this is a top post but you can always scroll down!)
