[xubuntu-users] Blank screen period during boot.

I tended to put the 'blank' period down to Linux spending time
negotiating different bits of hard ware (eg waiting for USB drives,
network connections Lan and Wan, cameras etc???). Then depending on
what was already registered for a quick recognition and what had to be
"discovered" each time from scratch could either shorten or lengthen
(respectively) that blank time. So with a new a installation there
maybe setups from older systems that need to be repeated for a quicker
startup?? For example, my 24/7 Arduino based weather system is always
eventually determined as some 'unknown' USB interface because it lacks a
sophisticated auto interaction with the OS, though I know there are
manual ways I could circumvent that problem, it does not annoy me.
My recollections of early Linux were of great long lists of installation
checks scrolling past. I was suprised to see it happening again on my
Raspberry Pi !!

However I could be completely wrong!
