[xubuntu-users] Are *Ubuntu Based Distro's Dying?

I have hopped distros too, then settled on Xubuntu, so I now how you feel.
Short answer: Ubuntu-based distros won't die in the short-term.
Long answer: As I understand it...
- Shuttleworth has always propped up Canonical and will continue to do so
for the foreseeable future.
- Devs of *buntu distros have been given a heads-up about new package tech
and told to prepare. APT will continue to be option for short-term.
- Canonical have stated they will continue to encourage community distros.
Note, there has been these kind of "sky-is-falling" rumours about
Canonical/Ubuntu for years...it's still going and so are the community
distros. :) That said, nothing is forever.
