Hi Folks,
I have a Samsung - Galaxy S GT-I9000 that I use for quick photography,
and frequently need to download photographs from the phone to my Desktop
14.04 XUbuntu. Recently it has stopped behaving properly and begun
reporting errors and at times not communicating with the phone at all.
The phone is connected via a USB2 port directly connected to the mother
board (this has been previously very reliable). I have the
Cyanogen-mod/Android OS on the phone (having got rid of the
Samsung/Android OS 9 months ago). I have another XUbuntu machine I only
run Apache and Python3 on to provide a community website and a 24/7
weather site. This other machine picks up the phone OK and allows the
usual file transfers etc. For convenience I would much prefer mount the
Galaxy S on the Desktop and access the USB storage that way.

I have tried to find a Linux utility program that might cast some light
on the problem but failed to do so. All my other USB devices appear to
be working OK (Ext USB1Gb, Canon Scanner, Flash Card reader, Canon
iP4200 printer, and of course, mouse and keyboard), and the usual
typical USB memory sticks are ok.

Here the command line, 'lsusb' reveals the connection is found (Nexus S?)-

Quite often it doesn't even get this far.

_Phone's Storage:_
Internal Storage: 1.26GB & 546MB available
USB Storage: 13.4GB & 10.07GB available So neither appear close to
their limit?

The internal USB memory size is usually reported as16 GB, but now the
desktop reports it as 14GB, and then fails to mount the volume.

I am guessing the problem lies with my XUbuntu desktop machine, but I
need help to even begin to tackle it.
Any ideas? Any help at all towards solving this would be greatly
appreciated.
