Thanks for your replies Steve.

I am going to give wodim a try. But from what you've said it seems
that storage and light intrusion is something I haven't paid heed to.
I also think that there is something amiss with this PC and need to
get someone to check it out.

Like you I wanted to keep kde libraries off the PC so didn't use K3b
for a while. i had no problems with Brasero but unlike you I didn't
like xfburn.
