using 14.04

I wanted to get my hp PSC copier going. The printer works fine but I couldn't 
get the scanner recognised. I've installed the relevant hp packages with 
synaptic. I ran hplip-setup and it revealed some dependencies missing and then 
hung up so I couldn't note them down.

I know the problem isn't with the PC or printer as another distro 'worked out 
the box'. I don't like the distro and so I wanted to get this sorted and stay 
with xubuntu.
