Here is what I see with pavucontrol using various applications:

  * Banshee: pulsesink probe # works
  * Chromium:			Playback		# works
  * Firefox (no flash): AudioStream # works
  * Firefox (with flash):	ALSA pluig-in # DOES NOT WORK

Here are the three active Plugins in Firefox 33:

  * Adobe Reader 9.5
  * LibreOffice Plug-in
  * OpenH264 Video Codec

There is no ALSA plugin and about:config shows nothing with the "alsa" string.

The following packages are installed:

  * alsa-base (1.0.25+dfsg-0ubuntu4)
  * alsa-utils (1.0.27.2-1ubuntu2)
  * libsox-fmt-alsa (1.4.4.1-3ubuntu1)
  * flashplugin-installer (11.2.202.418ubuntu0.14.04.1)

So the problem may be with the ALSA plug-in, but it is not clear to me why
it is being used by Flash and what I need to do to get Flash functioning
properly.

I would appreciate it if people with working Flash audio in Firefox please
see if the alsa packages are installed on their systems and let me know
what pavucontrol reports when playing flash audio content.

Also, am I understanding from this thread that ubuntu 14.10 no longer supports
the flashplayer-plugin package?

Thanks.
