Hi

I am reposting this message here as I was advised it is better suited
for this list rather than the developers list. The problem could be
the file mime type or just my system, xubuntu 13.10 seems happy to open
normally,

If the minetype is causing confusion there has to be some sort of clash
between pdf and scratch mime type encoding,

thanks for any help

Paul

Hi

I am having trouble with file associations on xubuntu 14.04

if I go to this page

http://www.oldwayschool.co.uk/page/?title=Community+activities&pid=86

click on the link to the pdf link it tries to open it in scratch by default

I had some help in #xubuntu, so know how to open it in evince manually,
however I want to try and find out why this is happening (tried this on
13.10 on netbook and it's fine) and see if there is actually an issue
somewhere.

I have put a work around on my block at:
http://zleap.net/xubuntu-14-04-file-association/

I am guessing it is either a software problem or maybe a problem with
the schools website in which case I can let then know about it so it can
be hopefully fixed by their IT technician. It seems odd that this
happens despite pdf files being bound to document viewer in the browsers
settings.

would it be possible to try clicking the link and see what happens
please , It could just be my set up, if other people try it it could
suggest a wider issue if there is a problem.

thanks

Paul
