Dear Sir or Madam,
After my system got clobbered -- I started from scatch ( which gave me a
chance to try-out what I'd learned in the prior installation/s -- namely
disk partitioning, etc. ). BUT, during the installation/build a
question was asked of me in that there was an upgrade to the OS (
Xubuntu ) which was 14.04. It asked me if I wanted to include the
upgrade with the installation??? Not remembering my many years of
technical support in all areas of IT -- I immediately said "sure" (
wrong answer ) -- I should have elected to do one process and then do
the upgrade.
So, while watching line after line of "JCL/ECL" scroll and flash across
my screen I noticed that there were some error messages -- but because
tey flashed by so fast I couldn't efficiently read them. So, I found
out where this particular log might be stored (
/var/log/dist-upgrade/apt-term ) and dug into it.
I finally found an example of what I saw screaming across my terminal
emulator screen ( the errors are of different reasons -- but they all
want me to run the "gdk-" command ) :

How do I fix this problem??? My system is running perfectly as I can
observe -- but when I do a "uname -r" it tells me that I'm still running
version 3.13.0-24-generic. I started out with 13.10 andprogressed, and
was eventually upgraded to 14.04.
How doI get my system to where it should be??? Help!!!
Regards,
/*Gary*/
