Remove Alacarte, and go to the panel,right click add items and choose 
whisker menu.
Much easier to use and configure.
IMHO alcarte is a pita

People ask me what it is I do.
As I don't know my self it is a hard question to answer,but so long as they pay me I will go on doing it.
