I have similar problems with one of my ancient laptops with 32 bit 12.04 on
it. I just turn it off physically. I've not had problems on the Dell
Latitude D620 which has 12.04 64 bit (Alternative) on it, which I'm using
to send this message.
All a bit odd really...
A newbie too
