Not sure I agree with this: For one thing Xubuntu brings a bunch of
(unnecessary) gnome-dependencies anyway (network-manager instead of wicd
for example) and other such things and works peachy. For another, I just
installed cairo-dock, which I believe is Gnome, and it works awesome, no
issues. The only point I can see where libs get messed up is if you
install something not in the repo's that bring their own libs in
different versions than the one in the repo and overwrite needed things.
If you stay within the repo, I never had a problem.
