[xubuntu-users] Synaptic doesn't work on a new 14.04 installation

This shouldn't happen, but try this

xhost +
sudo synaptic
xhost -

and also try this

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install lxpolkit
lxpolkit
gparted-pkexec
