In the case of this particular printer, HPLIP isn't needed and really
doesn't seem to help. It's just a terrible printer that needs a lot of
TLC to work in Linux.

Most HP printers work with Linux with no problems. The HP LaserJet
1020 isn't one of them. If you can in any way avoid it, I would.

But HPLIP isn't the key to making it work.
