[xubuntu-users] Can't sign in to xubuntu desktop, infinite login loop

In my case I eventually discovered that for some reason xubuntu decided
not to like a .profile with which it was quite happy with for a while.
I have xubuntu on a laptop too so I just copied over the .profile, so
now I can login.
