[xubuntu-users] xubuntu 12.04 black screen after update

I installed xubuntu 12.04 on vmware, it runs fine until I updated it
(updated everything). Now it doesn't boot normally.

The progress bar goes up to 1/4 then it comes the black screen, there's a
 "[ OK ]" at the top-right corner of the black screen, and nothing else.

I can get into command line mode by CTRL+ALT+F1,  what can I do to fix that?
