I just noticed with nothing open XUBUNTU 12.04 runs, 584 MB ram

in Vanilla Debian ( from Debian.org) only ran about 120ish out of 2
gigs of ram with NOTHING open.

quite a difference in Vanilla Debian, and Xubuntu.
