Well I installed Ubuntu on another flash drive and it played CDs just 
fine with rhythmbox.  So I removed parole from the Xubuntu flash drive 
and installed rhythmbox and my CDs play just fine.  Not sure why parole 
wouldn't work but I think I'll just go with the flow.
