The WINE system for Linux runs some DOS and Windows software, but if you
need to be able to execute a Windows program for some reason, buy the
commercial version, CodeWeavers WINE. I use this to run Word because I
need to be able to screenshot it for documentation, and I need to be
able to edit .docx files and have them saved natively by Word.[1]

1. For the inquisitive, the reason is that Libre Office/OpenOffice adds
an extra layer of indirection when saving .docx files with Named Styles,
removing all the Word named styles to a separate part of the XML
document, and instituting its own style names in their place, with a
cross-reference to the originals. This makes it more complex to process,
and breaks the normal editing workflow.
