My xubuntu 12.10 system isn't booting into the GUI, it stops before the
login appears.
The end of dmesg shows:-
[ 21.752962] postgres (1328): /proc/1328/oom_adj is deprecated, please use /proc/1328/oom_score_adj instead.
[ 27.395280] NFSD: Using /var/lib/nfs/v4recovery as the NFSv4 state recovery directory
[ 27.405792] NFSD: starting 90-second grace period
[ 27.423795] init: lightdm main process (1271) terminated with status 1
[ 28.661917] vboxdrv: Found 4 processor cores.
[ 28.662377] vboxdrv: fAsync=0 offMin=0x278 offMax=0x1668
[ 28.662934] vboxdrv: TSC mode is 'synchronous', kernel timer mode is 'normal'.
[ 28.662936] vboxdrv: Successfully loaded version 4.2.10 (interface 0x001a0004).
[ 28.870273] vboxpci: IOMMU not found (not registered)
[ 30.000911] init: plymouth-stop pre-start process (2122) terminated with status 1
So what's killing lightdm? It was working OK and I didn't change
anything that I know of that would affect this. I can run startx from
the command line in one of the CTRL/ALT/n consoles and the GUI starts OK
so it would seem that it's just lightdm/the login that's having
problems.
