[xubuntu-users] ThinkPad T400 - No Desktop (GUI)

Hi everyone,

Remember me neighbour with two laptops which I converted to Linux
(Xubuntu)? the ThinkPad Laptop is having problems:

I refuse to format and install Xubuntu 12.04.3 for the time being as I'd
like to learn to fix as many issues as possible with different hardware.
I've been 2 years far away from technical issues due to my tons of other
activities so it is time for my rusty troubleshooting skills to be shiny
and back to action :)
