[xubuntu-users] Xubuntu 12.04 LTS is freezing upon shut down

Try reinstalling it using the alternate cdrom 
<http://xubuntu.org/getxubuntu/> (if it won't boot into it, check your 
BIOS settings).
If freezing is still a problem, you may have to experiment with boot 
options <https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BootOptions> (e.g. acpi=off) 
- you can try these out by pressing 'e' when grub loads and adding them 
after 'quiet splash'. Also see if the problem still occurs when invoking 
shutdown directly from the command line - *sudo poweroff now*. The 
system may be halting instead of shutting down.
