Thank you Elisabeth,
This entry ...
> # PCI device 0x8086:0x1043 (ipw2100)
> SUBSYSTEM=="net", ACTION=="add", DRIVERS=="?*", ATTR{address}=="00:13:e8:03:bd:6b", ATTR{dev_id}=="0x0", ATTR{type}=="1", KERNEL=="eth*", NAME="eth2"
... used to generate "eth0_renamed"
This one ...
> # PCI device 0x168c:0x001d (ath5k_pci)
> SUBSYSTEM=="net", ACTION=="add", DRIVERS=="?*", ATTR{address}=="00:1d:0f:c9:c4:17", ATTR{type}=="1", KERNEL=="wlan*", NAME="wlan0"
... generates wlan0 when I plug the respective card.
When modify the first using the second as a template, this entry ...
> # PCI device 0x8086:0x1043 (ipw2100)
> SUBSYSTEM=="net", ACTION=="add", DRIVERS=="?*", ATTR{address}=="00:13:e8:03:bd:6b", ATTR{type}=="1", KERNEL=="wlan*", NAME="wlan3"
... surprisingly leads to interface "eth3". I don't care as long as I
know that "eth3" refers to my wlan and everything works as it should.
Thank you very much,
Andreas
