[xubuntu-users] Video cam & Skype

I have Xubuntu 11.10 with Skype 2.2.0.35-Oneiric and a Logitech 
QuickCam IM connected via USB.  I am able to get sound through Skype [in
 & out - after some difficulty] with a USB Logitech Microphone 
[really a Asahi Kasei AK5370 device] but not a peep from the video cam. 
During boot, the camera light turns on twice, but the resr of the time it sits on the monitor looking at me but doing nothing. Any suggestions?
