[xubuntu-users] something wrong with Xubuntu 11.04 after booting this morning

The keyboard generally works, like it does right now for example, but for some reason I cannot type into that box that opens when I press Alt+F2.
I re-booted a few times now by shutting the power off using the menu as well as by keeping the power button down until it shuts off, but it does not seem to change anything.
Any other ideas?

Can you reboot? If you can't type, do the keyboard lights work at all
when pressing numlock or caps lock? If not, you can try Ctrl+ALt+F2,
Ctrl+Alt+Del to reboot. If the mouse is working, try to use the
shutdown to completely power off. If that fails, the only option I know
of is power down, wait a minute or two, and turn the system back on. It
will run fsck on all drives, which might take a few minutes.
