[xubuntu-users] Panels in Oneiric Ocelot

I'm not the most well rounded person when it comes to operating systems, but
I have found the way I like it, which Xubuntu delivers nicely.
Having mostly used some form of Windows for most of my time I would say I am
more accustomed to that way of doing things, however for the past year I
have been using Linux distributions with some more luck I would say.

I tend to find that whenever I set up Xubuntu, I remove the bottom panel (I
don't like the space it takes up and then gets in the way if you need
something down in that area) and leave the top bar as it is. I don't find
the window control buttons get in the way at all of the bar nor do I find
myself misclicking much. I do however install Synapse pretty much every time
and set the activation to the windows button on the keyboard. This kind of
works like the start bar in windows, however the speed of Synapse is not
comparable to that found in windows - as it is near enough instant. For this
reason I don't find myself using the menus in the top panel too much - apart
from to access settings or something.
I would really appreciate (well I wouldn't as I have it right on mine...)
but others may appreciate the windows button activating the application
launcher or something similar like Synapse.

As for the colours I'm not fussy when it comes to that kind of things, I'm
happy with those currently used, and there is a good selection of applets. I
would add a cpu frequency governor applet - or some kind of laptop power
applet which allows you go turn things on/off if running on battery etc.

Hope this is the kind feedback you are wanting...

Paul
