If your driver is not a native X driver (binary drivers from Nvidia or ATI)
then xrandr might not work for you. The driver manufacturers should
have implemented similar functionality in the tools that they provide.
xrandr is pretty easy to use, just type it in at the terminal and it
might Just Work. Otherwise you might need to type in something along
the lines of:
xrandr --output VGA1 --auto
