[xubuntu-users] 10.10 usb help

Hi,

Xubuntu 10.10 does not acknowledge I put a USB thumb drive into my laptop. There's no icon in the media folder. Usually there's at least that. 
10.04 automatically put an icon the desktop and opened a window.

What can I do? It just sits there and nothing happens.
