[xubuntu-users] New to Xubuntu: For some reason the right side "Alt" key doesn't work...

Don't think so... When I first noticed the problem I found
Applications > Settings > keyboard > layout
It was set to use the system default... I played with some different
keyboard models There wasn't any Gateway models listed ( so I tried most
anything marked generic or as some kind of laptop) but none changed the
fact that While Xubuntu 9.10 is running, the right hand "alt" modifier
key don't work...
Then I tried adding and selecting some of the us variant layouts. with
the same results...
(Of course I didn't try anything that promised dead keys...)
So I deleted the variant layouts and reset for system defaults...
Any other ideas???
