Another nice part of configure is usually there is a nice rundown of
options that you can pass to it (like --prefix)

What I tend to do before I do anything else is read three things in the
source folder:
INSTALL
README
I then run "./configure --help|less".  What that does is run down all
the options you can pass to the configure script, and it is run through
the "less" command so that you can page back and forth.
