Hello, Mykie.
There are sometimes problems with upgrading X/ubuntu, and I have found this
to be the case with the upgrading 2 PCs from Jaunty to Karmic.
I resorted to doing a fresh install of Karmic on my eeePC, and may need to
do the same to fix a printing problem on my Xubuntu Karmic home file & print
server.
If you have a simple setup, you might find the quickest fix is to do a fresh
install, and copy across only the files you need from your previous install.
It is easy to shrink existing partitions and create a new partition using
the Xubuntu Live CD and 'Partition Editor' (Gparted) and then do a fresh
install to that partition.
I can give you more information (without command lines) if you decide to go
down this track.
Regards,
David
