Get thee to a command line.

Type mount

one of the lines should be something like /dev/sr0 on /media/cdrom

if not, it isn't mounted. Do it manually: mount /dev/sr0 /media/cdrom

If no response it succeeded. If anything prints it is a error message, and let us know what it is. Also grep /var/log/syslog for "sr0"

If it is successful you will have to also manually unmount: umount /media/cdrom ; eject

note the spelling umount, not unmount.

Interestily, it is checked, still don't see the CD. It is so weird. Is it is a bug?

Hi Jason,

You can check permissions on the cdrom. If you cd /media and then type

ls -l it should show the permissions. Go to system then user and groups

and click properties. You will need to enter your password and click on

user privileges and see if use cdroms is ticked.
