[xubuntu-users] How to Install a tar.gz?

Hi!

I am soooo loving my Xubuntu. What a delight it has been so far! I've 
even written a couple of rants about Xubuntu in my blog 
(http://robinzrants.wordpress.com).

I've downloaded a tar.gz from the web (because this particular 
application is not available in our repos yet), but I don't know how to 
install it. Is there a simple little tutorial for installing software 
from a tar.gz in Xubuntu?
