[xubuntu-users] 9.04 boot and install problems

More info...  I just reinstalled again, but first I zeroed out the partition
using dd just to see if it would report a disk error.  It didn't.  This time
there were no pauses at startup, and not all of the error messages scrolled
off the screen:

[ timestamp] end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector #####

Some of the sector numbers repeat as if it is doing retries.

What is the sr0 device?  Google doesn't tell me much; it seems to turn up in
all sorts of different types of error reports.

Should I submit a formal bug report?

I figured out what a USB video device is - the laptop has a builtin webcam.
