[xubuntu-users] All icons and desktop setting dissapeared - why?

Hi,

All icons disappeared on my desktop, right-clicking the desktop produces
no menu/nothing, my wallpaper image dissappeared - it's just light blue
now. 

Does anyone understand what's going on? Using Xubuntu 8.10. I assume
Xubintu will be more stable than windows - this hasn't been the case,
and it's been quirky with wireless connections. I want to use it, i
really do!

Any ideas why this happened appreciated...
