It could be ok, I think, if only you want to use it.
If you start install script with sudo you could install it for all users.

I made a bug request for making newer Seamonkey available.
latest avalable seamonkey in Ubuntu repositories is 1.1.13 in jaunty
repository. (packages.ubunut.com) I made debs for Hardy for my use
(i got recepie for that after installing debian-reference package
in file:///usr/share/doc/Debian/reference/ch-package.en.html#s-port)
You can go to the bug report
https://bugs.launchpad.net/seamonkey/+bug/315344
and you can support request for new Seamonkey inside repository.
I am a bit stubborn about newest Seamonkey should be available in Ubuntu
so that I even plan to do it in foreseeable future.
(I don`t want to install SM from binary seamonkey.org distribution
because that would be the same as Windows install and since I would need
to install it manually on many machines, that would be very bad.)
