[xubuntu-users] disconnecting problem

I installed Xubuntu 8.10 a while ago and it looks and works fine except for
a funny problem: When I start an Internet browser, the connection is shut
off after one minute or two. If I just want to add programs or do other
system tasks online, the disconnecting problem doesn't appear. What can I do
to stay online also when I am  using Firefox or  other browsers?
