I suppose you could add the commands to a text file, allow that file to be
executed and add it to the autostarted applications, but I don't think
that's necessary in this case as...

...Compiz should be able to start Emerald automatically. Furthermore, I
don't know if you used a specific guide to install Compiz, but the
recommended way is to have it start up instead of xfwm4. If you add it to
the Autostarted Applications then first xfwm4 will be started, and then it
will be closed again to be replaced by Compiz, which is a bit inefficient.
If you make Compiz start instead of xfwm4 then it will be executed before
the Autostarted Applications so you can then just place gdesklets in there.
