If you have Kubuntu installed and enough hard drive space, you can open up
Synaptic Package Manager from Applications->System and then look for the
xubuntu-desktop package. If you install that, you can choose Xubuntu from
the session menu in the login window. Though this probably isn't optimal
performance, you can use this to see if you like Xubuntu. The cleanest way
is probably to do a new installation over your Kubuntu installation, but
that means you will either have to backup or lose all your documents and
settings.
(I suppose you haven't installed your /home directory onto a separate
partition?)
