[xubuntu-users] Filechooser mode

I have noticed that when any filechooser dialog appears (such as Firefox -
File - > Save As), the "Places" menu does not contain any removable media. I
attempted to file this as a bug report, but wasn't quite sure where it
belongs. Here is the original bug report on launchpad:

After further research, It appears this is down to (i assume) the window
managers default filechooser mode of operation, which in the case of
Xubuntu/XFCE appears to be local only mode. Does anyone know if this is a
design decision or if the default mode can be configured to include
removable media?
