The minix3 operating system is looking like an increasingly exciting
option for users of older computers.
http://www.minix3.org/
It works on anything 386 and 8 mb of ram and above. It is a Unix
like operating system. Versions 1 and 2 inspired Linus Torvalds to
make Linux.
It is also progressing at a much faster clip than the winnt clone
reactos. http://www.reactos.org/
They recently were able to get links2, a small browser with good
graphics, working on it. They also ported the Win9x look alike guis
ede, and jwm to it. It has a working text based email and newsgroup
client as well. Apparently the packaging system is also a breeze.
